Canon EOS R5 review

While it's a shame that picture and sound quality haven't been upgraded, the iPhone 13 was great in these regards and the iPhone 14 is, too Excellent display Admirable headphone performance Solid build quality No upgrades to picture or sound Familiar design Notch is still present

Canon EOS R5 Camera Body Only With Kit Box - Brand New review

It’s a great handset, but the improvements are so iterative that most of you will hardly notice what’s new.

Action mode offers truly superb video stabilization. eSIM makes it easy to switch phones (with other iPhones). Satellite SOS and Crash Detection add peace of mind.

Many of the specs remain the same as on the iPhone 13. Small battery gains. Photonic Engine isn’t as revolutionary as suggested.

Canon EOS R5 review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Canon EOS R5 Camera Body Only With Kit Box - Brand New review

A slight camera upgrade, new emergency features, and... not a whole lot else

Better selfie camera, Good battery life, Crash detection and satellite SOS are neat

It’s more like an iPhone 13S, Display is still 60Hz, eSIM transition will be easy for most but painful for some

Canon EOS R5 review: An absolute powerhouse

This full-frame mirrorless camera is an absolute powerhouse, delivering top image quality, autofocus and in-body stabilisation performance. There are some hiccups with high-end video recording overheating, the body-only asking price is high, and the competition from Sony is strong. All said, though, the R5 is the go-to model in this line-up, improving upon the company's outgoing DSLR series and showing that you're in very safe hands indeed.

Supreme autofocus modes - the tracking for humans/animals is impressive; 12fps mechanical burst; Super-detailed 45-megapixel images; In-body image stabilisation is excellent;

Overheats in high-end video modes - will limit in-camera record time; Easy to move focus point by accidental screen touch; It's obviously pricey; CFexpress card adds to cost;

Canon EOSR5 Body EOSR5BB review

Canon’s highly-specified mirrorless all-rounder is feature-filled and built to last. It produces extremely sharp, high-resolution 45-million-pixel images, while being capable of recording both 8K and 4K video.

Canon EOS R5 Body With EF Adapter EOSR5BB-AD review

The Canon EOS R5 delivers one of the most significant leap in camera performance of recent years. Combining a 45 MP Full-Frame CMOS sensor with a fast processor makes it possible to reach 20 FPS at full resolution and record 8K video at 30 FPS.

Class-leading image-stabilization mechanism; Superb dynamic-range; Realistic image colors; Reliable automatic white-balance system; Conservative metering; Great AF accuracy and sensitivity; Ultra-fast autofocus; Instant shutter with virtually no black out; Exposure-Priority EVF; Highly efficient...

Above average image-noise from base ISO; Anti-Alias Filter softness; Early shot-to-shot stall; Slow recovery after overheating; Asymmetric memory; Some poorly organized features; LCD hinge alignment; Missing anti-reflective coating on rear LCD; Limited battery-life

Canon EOS R5 Body With EF Adapter EOSR5BB-AD review

I really did like the EOS R5, despite the overheating problems, because it suited my style of shooting. For $3,900, it’s the only pure high-megapixel hybrid camera that does photography and video equally well.
