Sony WF-XB700 True Wireless Headphones WFXB700B review

Sony’s cheapest true wireless earbuds are reliable options for sporty types

Clear; punchy sound; Decent battery life; Comfortable; lightweight build

Rivals offer more detail; Reasonably large earbud design

Sony WF-XB700 Truly Wireless Headphones review

The Sony WF-XB700 have a lot to offer. They have a fun, energetic sound quality, feel comfortable during long listening sessions and have an 18-hour combined battery life. We don't love their radar-disc shape and their lack of noise cancellation, but these are undoubtedly Sony's second-best true wireless earbuds.

Comfortable fit; Punchy bass; IPX4 rating;

Strange design; No aptX support; No noise cancellation

Sony WF-XB700 Review

The XB700 is another fun pair of wireless earbuds from Sony. Battery life is exceptionally long, and the audio performance offers plenty of entertainment with a punchy, bassy sound at an affordable price

Excellent battery life; Fun, punchy sound; Powerful sub-bass;

Quite large; No active noise cancellation;

Sony WF-XB700 review

The bass on the Sony WF-XB700 is thumping, but the design isn't the most refined.

Great bass quality; Secure fit; 18 hour total battery life;

Bulky shape; No sound customisation/app; No ANC;

Sony WF-XB700 True Wireless Headphones WFXB700B review

Sony covers all the basics with an affordable true wireless model in its Extra Bass headphone line. While the WF-XB700 offers perks like on-board controls, good battery life and more, saving some serious cash means sacrificing the most attractive earbud features.

Great price; Full bass; Reliable on-board controls; Solid battery life

Awkward fit; No ANC; Doesn’t work with Sony’s app; No EQ customization; No ambient sound mode

Sony WF-XB700 True Wireless Headphones WFXB700B review

For their fairly reasonable price, the Sony WF-XB700 truly wireless headphones offer good bass, up to 18 hours of battery life (with the case) and sport an IPX4 rating, which means they can endure splashes and sweat.

Sony WF-XB700 True Wireless Headphones WFXB700B review

If you want a pair of true wireless earbuds for everyday then you'll probably be better served elsewhere, but if you want a pair of 'buds for your workout these are a great deal.

Price; Great fit; Good sound for exercising; Plenty of bass; IPX4

Build quality isn't great; The charging case can't be used with one hand; Battery life is average

Sony WF-XB700 True Wireless Headphones WFXB700B review

Sony's relatively affordable WF-XB700 earphones deliver thunderous bass depth in a true wireless design.

Powerful audio with seriously boosted bass; Water-resistant build; Extra-secure fit

No app or EQ; Wildly boosted bass not for those seeking accurate sonic performance

Sony WF-XB700 Review

If you’ve been waiting for a pair of affordable, bass-forward true wireless earphones, Sony's WF-XB700 ($129.99) might be just what you've held out for. Keep in mind the XB stands for extra bass, and these in-ears certainly dial things up in that department—if it's sonic accuracy you're after, you're not going to find it here. But with a super-secure fit and a water-resistant design, the WF-XB700 earphones hold plenty of appeal for active bass lovers on a budget.Design Available in black or blue models, the WF-XB700 earpieces have a somewhat nondescript, eggshell-like finish on their outer panels. The included oval charging case is a bit larger than most, but the earpieces are also on the bigger end of the spectrum. The earphones ship with four pairs of silicone eartips in various sizes. The in-ear fit is quite secure, and feels lightweight despite the somewhat bulky build. In fact, the larger footprint for the outer earpieces might actually be part of what helps them stay in plac...
