FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Lens - Brand New review

It's easy to get carried away and lose sight of just how far we've come in the smartphone world. Apple's iPhone 14 is 7.8 millimeters thick but can communicate directly with satellites, boasts photographic talents that eclipse dedicated cameras and action cams, and does so starting at just $799.

Improved low-light camera performance, Clever safety features (you hope you won't need)

Improvements feel evolutionary, eSIM may prove a headache, iPhone 13 offers much the same for $100 less

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 50mm F1.0 R WR Review

Fujifilm X series camera owners who love the shallow-depth-of-field look are certain to be drawn to the Fujinon XF 50mm F1.0 R WR ($1,499). It's a big prime lens with a bright aperture for low-light photography and smoothly defocused backgrounds. Bokeh-specialist photographers interested in exploring the night can take note, but the XF 50mm F2 R WR is a more practical 50mm for the rest of us, and is more attainable at around $450.An F1 With Autofocus Lenses with extra-bright apertures (wider than F1.2) aren't unheard of, but they're typically restricted to manual focus and, unless you're prepared to spend a fortune, they aren't spectacularly sharp optics. That said, photographers still reach for them for extremely shallow depth of field and low-light capture. The XF 50mm F1.0 R WR includes autofocus, and there's little bad to say about it optically. It uses a complex design to get there, with plenty of heavy glass elements. At 4.1 by 3.4 inches (HD) and 1.9 pounds, it dominate...

The Fujifilm XF 50mm F1.0 R WR has the widest f-stop of any modern, autofocus lens, but it's heavy to carry and slow to focus.

Extra-bright F1.0 optics with autofocus; Dust and splash protection; Nets shallow depth of field images; Nominal focus breathing

Bulky; Audible focus motor; Underwhelming manual focus experience

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 comes to market with the same launch price as the previous generation. At the same time, iPhone connoisseurs were more than disillusioned after the presentation of the new smartphone. Apple leaves large parts of the hardware unchanged and does not dare to change the design.

Top performance level despite last year's chip, Very high quality workmanship, Improved image and video quality, Excellent battery life

Hardly any innovations, Charging takes too long for 2022

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Lens - Brand New review

A slight camera upgrade, new emergency features, and... not a whole lot else

Better selfie camera, Good battery life, Crash detection and satellite SOS are neat

It’s more like an iPhone 13S, Display is still 60Hz, eSIM transition will be easy for most but painful for some

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Lens - Brand New review

It’s a great handset, but the improvements are so iterative that most of you will hardly notice what’s new.

Action mode offers truly superb video stabilization. eSIM makes it easy to switch phones (with other iPhones). Satellite SOS and Crash Detection add peace of mind.

Many of the specs remain the same as on the iPhone 13. Small battery gains. Photonic Engine isn’t as revolutionary as suggested.

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Lens - Brand New review

Slightly better cameras but otherwise, not much of an update - buy the iPhone 14 Pro or switch to Android instead

Better low-light photography, Slightly longer battery life, Action mode gives super stabilised video

The same performance as the iPhone 13, No Dynamic Island or Always-On display, 60Hz screen

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Lens - Brand New review

Hannah Stryker / Review Geek The iPhone 14 is the latest iteration of Apple’s flagship device. Since its launch, the iPhone has set the standard of what a smartphone is, what it does, and how it looks. Fifteen years later, it’s still doing that.

Top-notch cameras, Amazing display, Snappy performance, Great battery life

It's just "this year's iPhone"

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 isn't much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it's still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR Lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 is very similar to the iPhone 13, which itself was very similar to the iPhone 12. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad phone — it’s just less of an upgrade for anyone using a phone that’s only two years old.
