The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini received a number of significant upgrades including new cameras, a bigger battery, more storage and a brighter screen. The iPhone 13 is a delightful upgrade to last year's already wonderful iPhone 12 family. Some will be disappointed because it's not radically different from previous models, but that's actually part of the charm. Familiarity has been one of the keys to Apple's success with the iPhone, and the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini are those same reliable friends that seemingly never change.

A 60Hz display is the only thing really stopping the iPhone 13 from being the most competitive phone on the market. It improves on its predecessor and otherwise outperforms rivals deftly.

The iPhone 14 is better than its predecessor, but it's also more expensive and doesn't have many significant upgrades.

Unlucky number? Doesn't matter! The 13th generation of one of the mainstays among smartphones is now once again trying to appease Apple fans and convert Android disciples. To accomplish this, it features a new processor, longer battery life and sensor shift image stabilization.

Even though the iPhone 13 is very much an incremental step forward, it includes useful new features like a more powerful processor, the excellent Cinematic video mode and a brighter display.

The iPhone 13’s brighter display, longer battery life and powerful cameras make it the best iPhone for the money. But we wish it had faster charging and the iPhone 13 Pro’s adaptive 120Hz display.

In my opinion, the iPhone 13 is a bigger update to the series than the iPhone 12 was. The iPhone 12 represented a major design update, and one that I’m glad has stuck around. But the iPhone 13 offers improvements where it really counts — the battery, and the camera.

Time to upgrade.

Impressive cameras. 128 gigabytes of base storage. Longer battery life on the full-size model.

Battery on the Mini is a bit weak. Otherwise there’s not much to dislike.
