Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G (256GB, Beige) AU - Excellent review

It's easy to get carried away and lose sight of just how far we've come in the smartphone world. Apple's iPhone 14 is 7.8 millimeters thick but can communicate directly with satellites, boasts photographic talents that eclipse dedicated cameras and action cams, and does so starting at just $799.

Improved low-light camera performance, Clever safety features (you hope you won't need)

Improvements feel evolutionary, eSIM may prove a headache, iPhone 13 offers much the same for $100 less

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G (256GB, Beige) AU - Excellent review

The iPhone 14 is very similar to the iPhone 13, which itself was very similar to the iPhone 12. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad phone — it’s just less of an upgrade for anyone using a phone that’s only two years old.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G (256GB, Phantom Black) AU - Excellent review

At first glance the Galaxy Z Fold 4 isn't particularly different to the outgoing Z Fold 3. But then this isn't really an 'upgraders' phone in my view. Since using the newer Fold for a fortnight I've found the marginally different aspect ratios make both screens – whether the exterior in folded...

Slightly better screen aspect ratio screens than predecessor, It's a lot like a phone and a tablet rolled into one, New Taskbar functionality for enhanced use-cases, Camera improvements over its predecessor

Wait until you see the price, Under-display camera is still too visible, S Pen stylus isn't integrated – and sold separately, Screen creases and reflections unavoidable with folding tech

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G (256GB, Beige) AU - Excellent review

Slightly better cameras but otherwise, not much of an update - buy the iPhone 14 Pro or switch to Android instead

Better low-light photography, Slightly longer battery life, Action mode gives super stabilised video

The same performance as the iPhone 13, No Dynamic Island or Always-On display, 60Hz screen

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G (256GB, Phantom Black) AU - Excellent review

A slicker, more streamlined folding phone that majors on productivity

Slick software makes multitasking effortless, Flagship performance, Better, more versatile cameras

No S Pen as standard, or a slot to store one, Screen crease hasn’t disappeared completely, Still your wallet’s worst enemy

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G (256GB, Beige) AU - Excellent review

The iPhone 14 comes to market with the same launch price as the previous generation. At the same time, iPhone connoisseurs were more than disillusioned after the presentation of the new smartphone. Apple leaves large parts of the hardware unchanged and does not dare to change the design.

Top performance level despite last year's chip, Very high quality workmanship, Improved image and video quality, Excellent battery life

Hardly any innovations, Charging takes too long for 2022

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Dual SIM 5G (12GB RAM, 256GB, Green) - BRAND NEW review

“The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is less compromised, more powerful, and more durable than its predecessors. The battery struggles to keep up with its ability, but otherwise, it's one of the very best smartphones you can buy today.”

Usable cover screen, Excellent multitasking features, Inner screen is great for games and video, Reliable and fun camera, Water resistant and durable materials

Heavy use kills the battery, Slow charging

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Dual SIM 5G (12GB RAM, 256GB, Green) - BRAND NEW review

The Galaxy Z Fold4 is currently available from Amazon starting from $1499 (with both the 256GB and 512GB version costing the same at the time of the test).

bright OLED display, compact mini tablet, long software support, robust chassis including IPX8 certification, powerful SoC

UDC still not optimal, no storage expansion, slow 25W charging, display seam stands out, thick and heavy case
